The American public increasingly supports the Biden administration

The first months of an administration are extremely crucial because the local population can evaluate and have an opinion on how the government has handled the most important sectors of society in relation to the proposals and goals presented during the pre-election political campaign. President Joe Biden and his team are no exception.

For four months now, the Democratic president has been leading the White House and representing the US internationally. Therefore, a large number of polls have recently been conducted to find out the American public’s opinion regarding his administration and the way in which it is facing the challenges that come with the global Coronavirus pandemic.

Overall, according to the results of multiple polls, most local citizens support the Biden administration. In fact, there is growing support for the way President Biden and his team are approaching different sectors, even overtaking the Trump administration.

To give a specific example, a recent poll conducted by Harvard CAPS / Harris Poll, which included 1,945 American citizens, reveals that Biden’s job approval increased to 62%, a substantial change from the last polls and 17% more than former President Trump during his first four months in office.

What does the local population currently think about immigration and Biden?

Regarding immigration, one of the most controversial sectors during Biden’s first months in office, 52% of respondents approve of his administration’s approach to immigration, but it remains a relatively low figure compared to other administrations.

This is because President Biden and his cabinet have had to face the highest surge of illegal border crossings in 20 years, which undoubtedly raises questions about his immigration proposals and delays his plans related to the immigration system.

Adding to that, respondents think that immigration is the second biggest issue the US is currently facing after the global Coronavirus pandemic, sparking an even bigger social controversy.

Support of the American population towards Biden and Immigration increases

Although the American population still does not fully support the way Biden is handling the immigration sector, the number has risen compared to other polls recently conducted.

For instance, in one of our most recent articles, we talked about a poll conducted by ABC News and Ipsos in late March 2021, which revealed that 57% of respondents disapproved of Biden’s approach to immigration at the time, especially when it comes to the border situation.

Therefore, support for Biden’s job on the immigration system has improved even though there is still a long way to go.
