Temporary consular interview waiver for certain immigrants

The Department of State (DOS) recently unveiled a measure that allows eligible immigrants, whose visa applications have already been approved, to apply for admission to the US without going through a consular interview.

Now is the right time to begin your immigration journey, but with the help of professionals. Contact Motion Law Immigration and ask for your FREE Consultation with our experienced attorneys who, through years of experience, have assisted many people with all kinds of immigration processes.

The reasons behind this temporary measure

Due to changes in the US’ immigrant visa application, which were implemented in response to COVID-19, and the temporary suspension of entry to foreigners, there has been a considerable delay in the issuance of these documents, mainly in consulates across the world.

Usually, foreign nationals must travel to the US within six months after the issuance of their immigrant visa. However, many people were unable to comply with this requirement due to the global health crisis.

It is for this reason that the DOS has allowed the consular interview requirement to be relaxed for some applicants seeking admission to the country.

Your future in the US depends heavily on the response you receive to your immigration application. Therefore, it is imperative to follow the advice of experts. Contact Motion Law Immigration, schedule a FREE Consultation and follow the advice of our experienced attorneys!

Criteria to consider in order to benefit from this exemption

Migrants who want to apply for this benefit have to meet certain requirements, among which are:

  • The immigration visa must have been issued between August 4 and September 30, 2019.
  • Applicants must not have made any trips to the US on the immigrant visa.
  • Foreigners must apply to the same type of visa to which they initially applied.
  • Each applicant must still meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Some documents, such as medical certificates, may be required to be resubmitted.
  • This benefit does not waive the regular processing fee.
