What is TPS?
TPS is a program offers relief from deportation to migrants who are unable to return to their home countries due to precarious conditions such as natural disasters, armed conflicts and other issues that put their integrity at risk.
This humanitarian alternative allows the DHS (Department of Homeland Security) to grant temporary support to eligible undocumented immigrants, allowing them to remain in the US for 6 to 18 months, with the possibility of extension depending on the conditions of the beneficiary countries.
In addition to that, migrants protected by TPS can apply for temporary work permits, driver’s licenses (state rules apply), inter alia.
