Dreamers Wait Patiently for Better Guarantees for their Future

Young immigrants still patiently waiting for lasting solutions

Immigrants who come to the US as children

In the US there are a wide variety of immigrant communities. In fact, throughout history, the country has found economic stability, international competitiveness and strength in the inclusion of new cultures and welcoming the presence of foreigners from all over the world.

To give a specific example, there is a well-known immigrant population and it is related to young people who were brought to the US (or sometimes sent on their own) when they were minors, but without legal documentation. This population is also known as Dreamers.

Dreamers have become an extremely active part of American society, mainly because we are talking about workers in all kinds of sectors who happen to be immigrants, but who have decided to continue their professional lives in what most catches their attention, which it can be literally anything.

Therefore, they are also an essential piece in the national economy. In fact, the current controversy is related to the possibility of offering them a path to legal residence and eventually citizenship even though they entered the US without documentation.

Dreamers under the Trump administration

Currently, the only immigration program specifically for Dreamers is DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). This deportation relief program was initially implemented in 2012 under the Barack Obama administration and allows eligible Dreamers to reside in the US for two years with the possibility of extension, obtain employment permits, and access other immigration benefits.

However, after former President Trump took office in 2017, and for the past four years, DACA recipients and Dreamers in general were on the tightrope and faced a gigantic legal battle as the Trump administration tried to remove DACA from programs available to immigrant communities in the US.

Do not hesitate to seek reliable help before making a hasty decision, the success of your immigration case depends largely on choosing the right process. Contact Motion Law Immigration and schedule a FREE Consultation with our experienced attorneys!

Dreamers under the Biden administration

The 46th president of the US, Joe Biden, took office in early 2021 and, unlike the Trump administration, states that Dreamers are a major part of the culture, the social fabric and the local workforce and, therefore, deserve an opportunity to request legal documentation and to fully and definitively integrate into American society, considering that many of them do not even remember anything about their countries of origin.

In fact, in his first address to Congress, President Biden called for permanent and lasting guarantees or solutions for Dreamers, who are also, in their vast majority, essential workers.

Young immigrants still patiently waiting for lasting solutions

Currently, under the Biden administration, Dreamers are patiently awaiting new opportunities, even more so now that DACA remains in limbo due to a pending ruling by a Texas judge.

Primarily, Dreamers hope that Congress will act and intervene on multiple immigration bills, which, if passed, would open a path to legal documentation for them.
