Although the Biden administration’s initial actions regarding immigration have to do with lifting restrictions and removing rules implemented by the Donald Trump administration, rather than proposing new policies to benefit immigrant populations, its first decisions undoubtedly pave the way to improve the immigration system over the next four years.

In fact, in several Executive Orders recently issued, President Biden directs his team to create action plans to, not only rescind restrictive policies, but also to expand alternatives available for foreigners to come to the US and implement long-lasting policies, preventing future administrations from substantially restricting immigration.

According to a recent report by VOA (Voice of America), several experts state that Biden’s decisions during his first weeks will allow his government to promote comprehensive immigration reform, which would be the first one since the 80s.
