Biden Administration to Help Residents Through their Naturalization Process

The Biden administration plans to help residents to become citizens

The Biden administration moves forward with its immigration plans

The current administration of the US, headed by Democratic President Joe Biden, has pretty broad ideals when it comes to the immigration sector. In fact, the Biden administration openly states that the country urgently needs comprehensive immigration reform to restructure the entire immigration system and replace outdated policies that do not meet the needs of a globalized world.

When the Biden administration talks about immigration reform, it is literally referring to most, if not all, existing immigration processes. Now that the health crisis is subsiding, President Biden and his team are progressing in leaps and bounds on the immigration system and have used all the resources at their disposal to remove restrictive policies implemented by the previous administration and expand immigration benefits, especially for the most vulnerable communities.

Adding to that, the Biden administration has also issued certain executive orders to gradually restructure immigration processes related to employment (such as those available to highly skilled foreign workers), family ties, study, undocumented foreigners, inter alia.

The Biden administration plans to help residents to become citizens

As part of its action plan to reshape the local immigration system, Biden’s DHS (Department of Homeland Security) stated on Monday, May 17, that it will assist legal permanent residents on their path to becoming American citizens through the naturalization process.

The Biden administration stated that it will offer financial assistance to certain organizations that help legal residents in their naturalization process, which is the last step to become American citizens, and during their process to integrate into the social fabric. Also, the DHS Secretary stated, “It is critical that we provide immigrants pursuing citizenship and the organizations who help support their efforts with the tools to be successful”.

This is extremely positive news for thousands of foreigners who have been waiting for their opportunity to become citizens, who meet eligibility requirements and have already built their lives in the US.

Adding to that, it is also worth mentioning that the USCIS (US Citizenship and Immigration Services) is again using the 2018 version of the civics test after former President Trump’s administration tried to hinder the naturalization process.
